Pinkfong! Kids’ Songs & Stories / YouTube

The internet has created a whole new landscape for children’s entertainment, but quantity certainly doesn’t always mean quality. And while there is plenty of interesting and educational programming that may make parents feel less guilty about extended screen time, there’s also a lot of kid-oriented content that gets under even the most patient caretaker’s skin.

Here are a handful of the most annoying just-for-kids YouTube channels that try to make children laugh but often only end up making parents cringe.

These videos are admittedly helpful and educational. But there’s only so many times you can listen to the ABCs as an adult with the phonetic noises being made before you want to s-s-smack the c-c-computer.

The other major hit, “Easy Little Song,” is gentle enough to listen to, but if you actually watch the video, it feels like you’re staring at a 2D Chuck-E-Cheese animatronic, which is fun once per year during a birthday party. But it’s not something you want to listen to on repeat daily in your home.

Some of these videos are fun, and they definitely have great messages for children. But they can also make it feel like a group of rowdy, excited children have been let loose in your home.

And anyone who has actually had a group of screeching small children wreaking havoc in their home doesn’t need to be reminded of it through the computer screen. Even if you give your child headphones, the screeches are so loud at times that the sound will seep through.
