While “Avengers: Endgame” was certainly the end of an era, wrapping up the “Avengers” series, that doesn’t mean we won’t see the stars again soon. Marvel has creations in the works featuring our favorite team of superheroes. Regardless, these actors have plenty to keep them busy — what with their active romantic lives and all.
Love seems to come easy to this crew of A-listers, which is why they (mostly) seem to be happily coupled up. From long-time loves to those still in the honeymoon phase, here’s what the “Avengers” stars have going on on the romance-front.
Robert Downey Jr.
Cast member Robert Downey Jr., left, and Susan Downey arrive at the premiere of "The Avengers" in Los Angeles on April 11, 2012.Character: Iron Man
Love Interest: Susan Downey
Robert Downey Jr., who has played Iron Man since the film debuted in 2008, has been a staple of the Marvel films as the first superhero to kickstart the interconnected web of movies. Through it all, he has been happily married to his wife, Susan Downey, who he wed in 2005. Before that, he was married once before to Deborah Falconer. While that marriage lasted for 12 years, the actor’s substance abuse issues ultimately caused difficulties for the couple.
After sobering up, he met Susan, who reported thinking he was “weird” upon their first meeting. They dated for three months before he proposed, and the two had a lengthy engagement before tying the knot. The actor has three kids, one from his first marriage and two with his current wife.
Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson, left, and Colin Jost arrive at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 17, 2018, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.Character: Black Widow
Love Interest: Colin Jost
Black Widow, the girl-power fan-favorite played by Scarlett Johansson, has been a central character in the Marvel films over the years. While she doesn’t have a movie with her name on the title yet (just wait!), she’s still an epically important part of the Avengers team, which certainly proves true in “Endgame” (no spoilers, we promise).
On the romantic front, Johansson is making magic happen, too. She reportedly just got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Colin Jost of “Saturday Night Live” fame, after two years of dating. While this will be Jost’s first time at the altar, it will be the third for Johansson, who was married to Ryan Reynolds previously, and journalist Romain Dauriac, who is the father of her 4-year-old daughter.
Chris Pratt
Katherine Schwarzenegger, left, and Chris Pratt arrive at the premiere of "Avengers: Endgame" at the Los Angeles Convention Center on April 22, 2019.Character: Star-Lord
Love Interest: Katherine Schwarzenegger
While Chris Pratt’s role in "Endgame" isn’t as huge as the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies, he’s certainly the leading man in the world of his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger. After Pratt divorced from his wife, Anna Faris, with whom he has a son, in 2018, he announced his relationship with Schwarzenegger.
Then, this past January, they announced their engagement and made their debut at the “Endgame” premiere. Classy Anna Faris has openly wished the new couple the best of luck in their marriage, and the duo officially wed on June 8.
Elizabeth Olsen
/granite-web-prod/4f/11/4f11205bd96843a8b72569dda885a597.jpg)
Character: The Scarlet Witch
Love Interest: Robbie Arnett
The Scarlet Witch, played by actress Elizabeth Olsen, younger sister of twins Mary-Kate and Ashley, first made an appearance in the Marvel series in 2014 in the credits scene of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” She quickly became a fan-favorite when she starred in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” the following year, “Captain America: Civil War” in 2016 and "Avengers: Infinity War” in 2018.
While she’s had a number of different love interests over the years, including fellow Marvel star, Tom Hiddleston, the actress has been dating musician Robbie Arnett for the past two years. Their romance was first reported by E! back in 2017, when they were spotted walking around New York City, arm-in-arm.
Don Cheadle
Actor Don Cheadle and his wife Bridgid Coulter pose together at the premiere of the film "Black Panther" at The Dolby Theatre on Jan. 29, 2018, in Los Angeles.Character: War Machine
Love Interest: Bridgid Coulter
In the “Avengers” films, Don Cheadle aka War Machine, has gone back and forth in regard to fighting Thanos. Although in the final film, he’s fully aligned with the Avengers.
But in real life, he’s a committed man. He’s been happily married to his wife, Brigid Coulter, for just a few years, but they’ve been together since the early 1990s and already had two children together long before they tied the knot.
Mark Ruffalo
Mark Ruffalo, left, and Sunrise Coigney arrive at the premiere of "Avengers: Endgame" at the Los Angeles Convention Center on April 22, 2019.Character: The Hulk
Love Interest: Sunrise Coigney
The Hulk may be a giant green rage monster on screen. But off, he’s a total family man. He married his love, actress Sunrise Coigney, nearly two decades ago, and the couple has three children together. While they are both well-known celebrities, the pair actually met on the street in New York City, and Ruffalo said he knew he wanted to marry her instantly.
The pair are about as famous as they come but prefer a quiet life to city living. They have a farm outside New York where they can get away from the hustle and bustle and focus on family life, which seems to be working well for the happy couple.
Chris Evans
Chris Evans arrives at the premiere of "Avengers: Endgame" at the Los Angeles Convention Center on April 22, 2019.Character: Captain America
Love Interest: Single (Yes, You’re Reading That Right)
Chris Evan’s character, Captain America, has certainly been through the ringer in the Marvel world. He’s died more than once, but he always manages to pull through.
There’s also been a tug of war in his real life love life, it seems. While it appears he is single for the moment, he was on-again-off-again with funny girl, Jenny Slate. The couple broke up last year, which devastated fans who believed in their love and wanted to see them pull through, too, just like his character.
Chris Hemsworth
Elsa Pataky, left, and Chris Hemsworth arrive at the world premiere of "Thor: Ragnarok" at the El Capitan Theatre on Oct. 10, 2017, in Los Angeles.Character: Thor
Love Interest: Elsa Pataky
Thor is quite the catch in the “Avengers” films (though in “Endgame” his appearance is, uh, different). But the demi-god certainly doesn’t have trouble with the ladies in real life either. He is married to Spanish model and actress, Elsa Pataky, whom he has three children with.
Fun fact: Pataky stood in for Natalie Portman in the final kissing scene in Thor when Portman was busy shooting another film. So, if you were wondering why the scene is so steamy, it’s because he’s actually kissing his wife.
Jeremy Renner
Actor Jeremy Renner poses during an Asia Press Conference to promote his latest film "Avengers: Endgame" in Seoul on April 15, 2019.Character: Hawk Eye
Love Interest: (Maybe) Lady Gaga
In the “Avengers,” Hawk Eye has a secret family. In real life, his dating life is not so secret. In January of 2014, he wed Canadian model, Sonni Pacheco, but the marriage was not for the long haul. Pacheco filed for divorce the same year, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has a beautiful daughter named, Ava who was born the year before the two married.
While nothing has been confirmed, dating rumors have been flying for a few months over a possible relationship with none other than songstress Lady Gaga. We’ll be keeping our own hawk eyes out for any and all updates.
Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd, left, and Julie Yaeger arrive at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Feb. 24, 2019, in Beverly Hills, Calif.Character: Ant Man
Love Interest: Julie Yaeger
Ant Man, played by Paul Rudd in the “Avengers” flicks, is one of the most lovable characters around. He’s smart, quirky and downright hilarious. But truth be told, if we know Rudd (and of course we do), he’s pretty great in real life, too.
And his longtime wife, Julie Yaeger, would agree. While the couple has been together since back in his “Clueless” days, little is known about their relationship. Perhaps keeping private life private is a trick of the trade that helps their relationship thrive. Either way, it seems like he’s as good at relationships goals as Ant Man is at shrinking himself.
Brie Larson
Brie Larson arrives at the world premiere of "Captain Marvel" on March 4, 2019, at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles.Character: Captain Marvel
Love Interest: Single
As the first female lead to star in a Marvel film, Brie Larson has seen a ton of well-earned love and support from fans. But she reportedly also received plenty from her longtime partner, musician Alex Greenwald, who is the lead singer in the band Phantom Planet. She credited him with empowering her to take risks in her professional life.
The couple had been engaged since 2016, but alas, not all loves are built to last. The romance ended earlier this year when the couple announced they were taking a “step back."
Josh Brolin
Josh Brolin, left, and Kathryn Boyd arrive at the premiere of "Avengers: Endgame" at the Los Angeles Convention Center on April 22, 2019.Character: Thanos
Love Interest: Kathryn Boyd
Thanos has a passion for infinity stones in the Marvel flicks. In real life, the actor who plays him, Josh Brolin, has a passion for his gorgeous wife, Kathryn Boyd. The couple wed in 2016 and had their first baby together in November 2018.
Brolin has been married twice before, and was also engaged to Minnie Driver for six months. He has two other children from his first marriage with Alice Adair. But, hopefully, his marriage to Boyd will be the one that sticks.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, right, and her husband, television writer/producer/director Brad Falchuk, speak during a ceremony to award screenwriter/television producer/director Ryan Murphy a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Dec. 4, 2018, in Los Angeles.Character: Pepper Potts
Love Interest: Brad Falchuk
On-screen, Pepper Potts has been Iron Man’s everlasting love through all the battles, expeditions and near-death experiences. In her real life, actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been famously buzzed about for her “conscious uncoupling” from ex-husband, Chris Martin. The ex-spouses have two children together and work hard at maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship.
These days, Paltrow is happily married to producer, Brad Falchuk, who she wed in 2018. While Falchuk doesn’t have his wife’s mega-fame, he is quite successful in his own right. He’s been a writer and producer on several well-known shows, and even won two Emmys!
Benedict Cumberbatch
Benedict Cumberbatch, right, and Sophie Hunter arrive at the Los Angeles premiere of "Doctor Strange" at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Oct. 20, 2016.Character: Dr. Strange
Love Interest: Sophie Hunter
Dr. Strange is a powerful sorcerer in the Marvel movies. In real life, the Dr. Strange actor, Benedict Cumberbatch, has a powerful love. He married actress and director, Sophie Hunter, in a much-talked-about dream wedding on Britain's Isle of Wight in 2015.
It was all very elegant, of course, and some recognizable names, like fellow Marvel star, Tom Hiddleston, were reportedly present at the ultra-classy wedding. The couple has three children together.
Tom Holland
Actors Tom Holland, left, and Zendaya pose for photographers upon arrival at the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" photo call at a central London hotel on June 15, 2017.Character: Spider-Man
Love Interest: (Maybe) Zendaya
It has been rumored practically for eons that the adorable young actor who plays Spider-Man and his co-star, Zendaya, have been dating. He has been spotted at her home, at her 22nd birthday party, on press trips and more. Plus, last year there was some suspicious Instagram activity that led many fans to believe the relationship was confirmed.
Still, the maybe-couple has yet to come out and confirm the romance themselves, so who’s to say. If it’s true, they’re doing a great job continuously denying those rumors.
Chadwick Boseman
Chadwick Boseman, right, and Taylor Simone Ledward arrive at the 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall on Jan. 27, 2019, in Los Angeles.Character: Black Panther
Love Interest: Taylor Simone Ledward
Black Panther is in a love conflict throughout the movie about the superhero. But Chadwick Boseman, the actor who plays the Wakanda king, doesn’t seem to be. It was only recently confirmed that he is dating singer, Taylor Simone Ledward, who he was spotted with several times before appearing with her at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Here’s hoping the two can keep their love life conflict-free and that she stays his off-screen queen.
Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper arrives at the premiere of "Avengers: Endgame" at the Los Angeles Convention Center on April 22, 2019.Character: Rocket Raccoon
Love Interest: No One (Right Now)
When Bradley Cooper, aka the voice of Rocket Raccoon in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” and "Avengers" films, and his girlfriend, Irina Shayk, recently split after four years together, fans were certain it had something to do with his “Star Is Born” co-star, Lady Gaga. After all, it had been heavily rumored they were an item. Both had been “poker-faced” about a maybe relationship, denying they were more than friends, and it seems, to the public’s disappointment, that much is true.
Other rumors have flown in recent months, like a possible relationship with Jennifer Garner. Sources say that’s not true either, and the two are long-time friends since their time on the show, “Alias.” According to ET, Cooper is single for now, and taking time to focus on his career and his 2-year-old daughter, Lea De Seine.
Zoe Saldana
Zoe Saldana, second left, stares at her husband Marco Perego-Saldana, second right, while posing with their children at the ceremony honoring her with a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 3, 2018, in Los Angeles.Character: Gamora
Love Interest: Marco Perego-Saldana
Marvel fans' favorite green-faced girl, Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana, has been through the ringer in the films, suffering an emotional death when her father sacrificed her in “Avengers: Infinity Wars,” then returning in “Endgame.”
On-screen, her love interest was Star Lord, though the fate of that relationship remains unknown since she was back on Thano’s side when she returned in the 2019 film. In real life, the actresses love life is less complicated. She’s been married to artist Marco Perego-Saldana, who took her last name, since 2013. The couple has three children together who they are raising gender-neutral.
Vin Diesel
Actor Vin Diesel and partner Paloma Jimenez arrive at the world premiere of "Riddick" at the Mann Village Westwood Theater on Aug. 28, 2013, in Los Angeles.Character: Groot
Love Interest: Paloma Jimenez
On-screen, he’s the one who says “I am Groot.” Vin Diesel plays the lovable tree of life in the “Avengers” movies, who doesn’t exactly have a love interest of his own. Off-screen, Diesel is pretty planted. He is happily settled with Mexican model, Paloma Jimenez.
The couple has been together for over a decade and, though they have never married, they seem content to be partnered, hopefully, for life. They have three children together, including a daughter, Pauline, named after the late, Paul Walker, who Diesel starred with in the “Fast and the Furious” films.
Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton and Sandro Kopp are seen in New York City on June 7, 2016.Character: The Ancient One
Love Interest: Sandro Kopp
Tilda Swinton plays The Ancient One in the Marvel films. In “Endgame,” she was confronted by The Hulk, and was reluctant to give up the time stone (with good reason, of course).
In real life, she’s reluctant to show off her relationship. But in March of this year, she was spotted in New York during a rare outing with her partner, Sandro Kopp, a German artist. The couple met in 2004 when she was on set for “The Chronicles of Narnia,” she told the Daily Mail. Swinton has children from a previous marriage but says she gets along great with her ex-husband and that they are good friends. Clearly, Swinton prefers to save the drama for her films.
Jon Favreau
Director and actor Jon Favreau, right, and his wife Joya Tillem pose on the press line at the premiere of the feature film "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" in Los Angeles on June 28, 2008.Character: Happy Hogan
Love Interest: Joya Tillem
Jon Favreau is Iron Man’s friend and employee, Happy Hogan, who is always loyal to Mr. Stark in the Marvel universe. Out of it, he’s loyal to his longtime wife, Joya Tillem, a successful doctor.
The couple was married in 2000. They have three children together and are reportedly very happy and in love. While lasting romance seems hard to come by in Hollywood, this longtime actor and director seems to have it all under control, a bit like his Marvel character always seems to.
Evangeline Lilly
A pregnant Evangeline Lilly attends the world premiere of "Ant-Man" at the Dolby Theatre on June 29, 2015, in Los Angeles.Character: Hope Van Dyne
Love Interest: Norman Kali
The actress who plays Hope Van Dyne in the Marvel films seems to have found a reason to be hopeful off-camera as well. The star, who first rose to fame on the series “Lost,” has been with her current boyfriend, Norman Kali, since 2010. The two met on the show when Kali was working as a production assistant.
In 2011, the two had a son, and in 2015, Lilly gave birth to a girl. The actress has been married in the past and has said that, even though she is very happy in her relationship now, she doesn’t feel the need to get married again.
Michael Douglas
Actor Michael Douglas, left, and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones attend a ceremony honoring Douglas with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Nov. 6, 2018, in Los Angeles.Character: Hank Pym
Love Interest: Catherine Zeta-Jones
Hank Pym, the physicist who developed Ant Man’s shrinking technology, is played by the famous Michael Douglas. In the latest “Avengers” film, we see him as a younger man, and then again, back to his current self, to attend the funeral of Tony Stark.
In real life, he has the science of love down pat, so it would seem. He has been married to actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, with whom he has two children, since November 2000.
Marisa Tomei
Marissa Tomei arrives at the opening night of "Back to Bacharach and David" on April 19, 2009, in Los Angeles.Character: Aunt May
Love Interest: Shhhhhh
Marisa Tomei, who plays the loving aunt of Spider-Man was last seen at the end of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” when she discovers her nephew’s secret identity. In “Endgame,” she shows up in the funeral scene.
While the actress has done some very public dating over the years, including Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., her dating life is more hush-hush these days. She’s not reportedly dating anyone at the moment, though, perhaps she’s learned a bit about how to keep her private life on the down-low after all these years in the spotlight.
Angela Bassett
Courtney B. Vance, left, and Angela Bassett arrive at the 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall on Jan. 27, 2019, in Los Angeles.Character: Queen Ramonda
Love Interest: Courtney B. Vance
Black Panther’s mother, Queen Ramonda, played by the iconic Angela Bassett, didn’t get any lines in “Endgame,” but her presence was palpable anyway. She showed up briefly near the end of the film, after Thanos’ army was defeated.
While audiences wanted more, queens like her don’t even need lines to make an impact. In real life, she’s reigning over a long marriage. She’s been with her husband, actor Courtney B. Vance, since 1997. Long live the queen and her king.
Samuel L. Jackson
Samuel L. Jackson, right, and LaTanya Richardson arrive at the world premiere of "Incredibles 2" at the El Capitan Theatre on June 5, 2018, in Los Angeles.Character: Nick Fury
Love Interest: LaTanya Richardson
We know Samuel L. Jackson as General Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Fury throughout the Marvel movies. As the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he's very influential in the making of the Avengers team.
Off-screen, the actor is happily married to his wife, LaTanya Richardson, who no doubt, he has plenty to talk about with since she’s also an actress and a producer. Richardson began her career performing in off-Broadway shows before moving on to TV and movie roles. The couple has had a long successful marriage of about 40 years. Jackson says the secret to their marriage, quite simply, is that they still love each other.
Cobie Smulders
Cobie Smulders, left, and Taran Killam arrive at the world premiere of "Spider-Man: Far From Home" on June 26, 2019, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.Character: Marie Hill
Love Interest: Taran Killam
Actress Cobie Smulders plays Marie Hill in “Age of Ultron,” “Infinity Wars” and appears at the end of “Endgame.” In the films, she’s the former deputy director of S.H.I.E.L.D. She’s second in command to Nick Fury on-screen and has the job of supervising the Avengers.
Her real life is slightly less stressful, one would imagine. She’s relatively settled, having been married to husband, Taran Killam, since September 2012. The couple has two daughters together.
Natalie Portman
Benjamin Millepied, left, and Natalie Portman arrive at the 28th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Jan. 2, 2017, in Palm Springs, Calif.Character: Jane Foster
Love interest: Benjamin Millepied
Natalie Portman’s character returned to the latest Marvel film in important flashback scenes from the “Thor” movies. Portman was once in love with Thor in the films, but in her Hollywood life, Natalie is in love with her husband, Benjamin Millepied, with whom she has two children.
No doubt her relationship in real life is a bit less dramatic than in the films — no infinity stones inside her! But she did meet her husband on the set of the same film, “Black Swan,” for which she ended up winning an Oscar. It might not be Avengers-style drama, but it’s a great love story, nonetheless.
Michelle Pfieffer
In this Dec. 7, 2011 photo, Michelle Pfieffer and David E. Kelley pose at the premiere of the film, "New Year's Eve," at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York.Character: Janet Van Dyke
Love Interest: David E. Kelley
The wasp’s mother, Janet Van Dyke, who is played by the amazing Michelle Pfeiffer, made a cameo in “Endgame,” too, at Tony Stark’s funeral. The famous actress and Academy Award nominee keeps almost as quiet about her private life as she was in the film (she had no lines).
She and husband, David E. Kelley, have been together since the early ’90s, though they prefer a quiet life, as opposed to the Hollywood lifestyle. In fact, they don’t live in Los Angeles, but rather in Palo Alto, California, where there is more community and less paparazzi, Pfieffer says. The couple has two children together.
Robert Redford
Director Robert Redford, right, and his wife Sibylle Szaggars arrive on the red carpet for the screening of "All Is Lost" at the 66th international film festival in Cannes, southern France, on May 22, 2013.Character: Alexander Pierce
Love Interest: Sibylle Szaggars
Robert Redford didn’t stay retired for long. Though he had announced he was done with acting, he made a surprise cameo in “Endgame,” as the character Secretary Alexander Piece, who showed up in the lobby of Stark Tower.
Perhaps he’s truly finished now, and if so, that means he’ll have more time with his wife, Sibylle Szaggars, whom he married in 2009. Szaggars is an accomplished artist and is the actor’s second wife.
Linda Cardellini
From left, Linda Cardellini and Steve Rodriguez arrive at the 2013 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sept. 15, 2013, at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, in Los Angeles.Character: Laura Barton
Love interest: Steven Rodriguez
Linda Cardellini plays Hawk Eye’s wife, Laura, who we weren’t sure we’d see at all in “Endgame,” but luckily, once the snap is reversed, she comes back. We also know Cardellini from the much-loved “Freaks and Geeks” series, which was how she stepped into her celebrity status.
Now, she’s married to her long-time partner, Steven Rodriguez, with whom she has a daughter. But she actually dated her "Freaks and Geeks" co-star, Jason Segel, for about five years after the show ended. Rumor has it, parts of their break-up inspired Segel’s film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
