With their deep-fried food, exhilarating rides and themed attractions, amusement parks promise fun, excitement and more than a little magic.
And often, they also offer a lot of hilarity.
We’ve gathered some of the most ridiculous, entertaining theme park photos ever posted to Instagram. If these don’t make you want to book a trip to a theme park asap — for the LOL potential alone — we don’t know what to tell you.
Drop Dead Funny
/granite-web-prod/d3/10/d3107682e49747d9b895ed6ea75552db.jpg)
Drop Dead Drop Ride: The Grassmarket Gallows at The Edinburgh Dungeon is a vertical-drop ride that sends thrill-seekers free-falling.
If this photo is any indication, the experience is either utterly horrifying or the chillest thing ever.
To each their own.
Get It Together, Mom
/granite-web-prod/56/7a/567aeb4821ed4b4eac6d59ddbcf12541.jpg)
The prepubescent child in this photo taken on the Nighthawk coaster at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina is totally unfazed by the ride's twists and turns. Her adult mother? Not so much.
Wahhhh

They say Disney theme parks are the happiest place on Earth.
This baby would beg to differ.
What Service!

We have do doubt the poor guy in this photo from the North Florida Fair in Tallahassee is thinking something along the lines of, "I do not get paid enough for this."
No buddy, you don't.
Emotional Experience
/granite-web-prod/3d/ca/3dca7817565f45faafb763376a391feb.jpg)
Are these park-goers freaking out about how scary this ride at the 2018 Ohio State Fair is...or how scary the bizarre, deranged face on the ride is?
We can't say for sure.
Isn’t It Romantic?
/granite-web-prod/e7/77/e77726def563475c8190caefacbceb7f.jpg)
He may have been busy balancing a kid on his shoulders, but that didn’t stop this dad from hilariously photobombing a happy couple’s picture at Disney's Magic Kingdom.
So much for a romantic moment alone in front of the Magic Castle. (Boring!)
Driving Force
/granite-web-prod/93/b5/93b57cc69f744c49acf504f552f728dc.jpg)
To those who say bumper cars aren’t scary: This 13-year-old boy at Star City amusement park in Manila strongly disagrees.
Wait until he starts driving real cars in another few years!
Sun’s Out, Tongue’s Out

Ridiculous photos taken on rollercoasters are a dime a dozen. But few are as perfectly over-the-top as this one, made all the funnier by the bemused look on the face of the screamer’s companion.
All the Feels
/granite-web-prod/15/1c/151c810cb1ae4b579cf31cfff84a00cc.jpg)
Ok, we lied: This is the funniest roller-coaster-scream photo we’ve ever seen. With their coordinated ridiculousness, these friends are basically iconic.
As for whether the back-left or front-left jokester is the most amusing...we truly can’t decide.
Feelin’ The Burn
/granite-web-prod/ee/60/ee60d0e9efe0458192801980ea0540c7.jpg)
It’s normal to feel a range of emotions — from excitement to frustration to disappointment to pure joy — when visiting a theme park. Sometimes, you’ll feel all of these emotions and more over the course of a single day.
And if you visit Pixar Pier at Disneyland, you can add anger to the list by acting furious beside the “Inside Out” character Anger, as this family did to great effect.
Has unbridled rage ever looked so adorable? We think not.
Creeptastic
/granite-web-prod/5b/92/5b9202e5b5f64ad898fbee9decbad52c.jpg)
Killer clowns are, for many, the most horrifying thing imaginable. Not so for this teen at the Reign of Terror Haunted House, the largest indoor haunt in Southern California, who seems completely unfazed by the axe-wielding freakshow beside him.
Maybe they’re buddies?
The Sweetest Thing
/granite-web-prod/c2/cd/c2cd3894bc8d454693a0a1fa5e3cb5fe.jpg)
This photo, taken in front of a Disneyland sweets shop in Anaheim, California, proves that the best part of theme parks isn’t the rides. It’s the indulgent food. (Who wouldn’t look this blissed-out with cotton candy and a lollipop to eat?)
That said, we don’t envy this girl’s parents, who no doubt had their hands full once all that sugar kicked in...
Bless This Mess
/granite-web-prod/59/49/59496fe46b124745874ee5c10abcb2be.jpg)
One of the best ways to improve your theme-park experience on a hot day is by indulging in some nice cold ice cream. But — as very honestly depicted in this photo from Disney’s Magic Kingdom — this is not an experience well-suited to clean freaks.
Your best option? Eat fast and have a good sense of humor about the whole thing.
Zzzzzzzz
/granite-web-prod/38/f8/38f8a2c18c804ac2a5223ee6b40a1950.jpg)
A day filled with rides, sugary foods and constant stimulation at Disneyland inevitably leads to crashing. Happily, when you’re under the age of 5, you don’t have to wait until you make it to the hotel room to enjoy a nice long nap.
Merry-Go-Goofball
/granite-web-prod/0c/d0/0cd0b08daa834411baa55fd063c27941.jpg)
As this photo from Universal Studios Singapore shows, visiting theme parks can bring out the silly side in all of us.
Imagine how much fun this little one must have had on the real rides! (No offense to carousels.)
Off With Her Head!
/granite-web-prod/e2/69/e269d259fb87449abc996eda53009972.jpg)
Nothing says having a good time at a theme park like posing in front of a scary-looking statue with a look of mock horror.
Happily, we can report that nobody was actually harmed during the taking of this photo at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando.
Faux Fear Factor
/granite-web-prod/90/0d/900d0f29c92a4828aee69666b6b35ee5.jpg)
Beto Carrero World in Penha, Brazil — Latin America’s largest theme park — is home to thrilling coasters, an expansive zoo, an area modeled after the Old West and...this random statue perfect for silly photo-ops.
Dino Attack
/granite-web-prod/48/b3/48b3a6cc46eb4344bd0bde8437d295d4.jpg)
Big theme parks bring moments and settings you’d only previously read about in books or seen in movies to life. In this photo from Universal Studios Island Of Adventures in Orlando, a particularly adorable kiddo reenacts “Jurassic Park” — without having to worry about an actual T-Rex chasing him down.
Bored-A-Saurus
/granite-web-prod/05/9b/059bec192a9d411c958b6173f73cd195.jpg)
Pro tip: If you’re a bored teen visiting an amusement park with your parents, keep things interesting by posing for funny photos in front of dinosaurs, at this girl did at Cedar Point in Ohio.
Or maybe she was just genuinely embarrassed about having to spend the day with mom and dad, and had no idea about the creatures lurking nearby?
Mr. Potato Twin
/granite-web-prod/e1/ba/e1ba6cffef164334913323c4b5249d96.jpg)
Sure, you could just walk by the displays you see around theme parks. But what’d be the fun of that?
As this Hong Kong Disneyland park-goer proves, when coming upon a character like Toy Story’s Mr. Potato Head, it’s way more enjoyable to connect with your inner kid and act like a total goober.
The resemblance is uncanny, no?
Jumping for Joy
/granite-web-prod/86/81/86817bbf7a8046d58aa20a50668f4e5c.jpg)
Nothing says getting in high spirits like literally jumping for joy. The key to the most entertaining jumping pictures is, of course, making it look effortless. And this man’s jump in front of the famous fountain at Universal Orlando, combined with his casual smile, makes it look like he’s just floating in the air.
This isn’t funny per se, but it is pretty impressive!
Practically Picture-Perfect in Every Way
/granite-web-prod/17/9f/179fd8759de54fb0a87004dd17cbedfd.jpg)
This imaginative Disneyland park-visitor makes an excellent Jack the Lamplighter from “Mary Poppins,” complete with festive hat and gravity-defying jumping skills.
Sorry, Universal Orlando jumping guy...you’ve been usurped.
Caught in the Moment
/granite-web-prod/2f/86/2f866491a7644a728a1b728f86a36858.jpg)
Some people scream on rides. Others close their eyes and hope for the best. And some, it would seem, kick back, chill out and flash a thumbs-up.
Either this ride at Legoland California is laughably mild, or this guy has nerves of steel...
