If you uttered the words “distance learning” a year ago, someone may have thought you were describing a method of learning via telescope from a hill some distance away. But thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, schools the world over have had to adjust their instruction. Those students who still attend in-person classes sit at isolated desks and wear masks, just like their teachers. But for the majority of students, the pandemic has shifted nearly all education to home-based learning, i.e., distance learning.
This has presented a great many challenges — broadband access in rural areas among them — as students, teachers and parents navigate this new reality that will likely be with us until everyone gets vaccinated or herd immunity attained. But that doesn’t mean we should all lose our senses of humor about the situation, as these tweeters have reminded us that, even during unprecedented times like this, laughter remains the best medicine — er, instructor.
