If you love French toast but hate to cook, this one’s for you. A French toast recipe doesn't have to be fancy. In fact, it's one of the easiest breakfast dishes to make. In a few short steps, here’s how it’s done.
1. Get the Right Ingredients to Make Easy French Toast
Five French toast ingredients are all it takes. For four servings, you’ll need one egg, 1/4 cup of milk, four slices of bread, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and one teaspoon of vanilla extract. For an extra dose of deliciousness, try using cinnamon raisin bread or brioche bread.
2. Mix It Up
Before you can make French toast, you need to make a simple custard solution. In a medium bowl, beat the egg, cinnamon and vanilla extract until well combined. Then, gradually stir in the milk. Easy.
3. Soak It All In
Dip the bread in the egg mixture, coating each side. If the bread slices are thick, leave the bread in the mixture to soak for a minute or so to make sure the inside of the bread isn’t dry.
4. Cooking Time
On a lightly greased pan or griddle, cook the French toast on medium heat until golden brown. If the bread is thick, lower the heat to make sure the inside is fully cooked without burning the outside.
5. Add Some Finishing Touches
Top it off with fresh fruit, whipped cream, syrup or any other toppings of your choice.
Congratulations. You just learned how to make French toast.
